Visiting leyland
MartinI'm popping oop to Leyland next weekend (13th - 16th June). Hayley has an audition in Kent, so that means I will have time to do other things. I might even get to meet Linda again [:)] I thought I would warn you all as I have some films in my cameras that need using up [8D]

Awww, Martin - would love to see you, but I'm committed next weekend. It's Father's Day and my husband's birthday, so I'm out both Saturday and Sunday. What a bummer! [:(] Maybe Noel will accompany you for a pint?
MartinNever mind Linda, I'll be up again fairly soon. I hope the weather is fine for when I'm up there, if I get some good photos, I can start adding them to the website front page.
Hayleypinkyeh hopefully i can make it up north soon with martin
LDunlop76Oooh, hope so, Hayley!
noelI'm visiting my sister down in Bishop Stortford so I can't be around sorry. I have a boiler to pick up in Cambridge and am stopping overnight with posh sis. I call her posh sis because she talks like a southern nancy. And I tell her but I love her to bits really. I have a posh sis and a unposh sis. (one who talks like what I do)
MartinFunny you should mention Cambridge Noel. We had a day out there a couple of weeks ago... There were push bikes everywhere.
noelThat's lucky Martin, my bike got pinched 2 weeks ago. I wonder if I dare.:-)
William RSorry Martin, I will miss you this time, I`m going up to Scotland for a while to ruminate, but I will be in touch when I return, I wonder if anyone will miss me? Never been hit so far. Cheerio, William R
William RLinda, Say Happy birthday to Barry from two folks you know, (nudge/wink) He`ll remember me, and Joyce as well. Cheers Bill.
skitzyNoel, Have you got a sister called Katrina[?]I used to know her years ago when I lived on Stanifield Lane. Eileen
Hayleypinkyes me and martin saw lots of bikes when we went to cambridge for the day a few weekends ago!
noelYes I have skitzy, she's down in Hampshire now teaching maths , done really well for herself considering the start she had in married life. She's coming back up north very soon to teach at Standish High

There might be one less after the weekend.[:)]
MartinI don't suppose one will be missed Noel. They probably just jump on the nearest bike when they need one.
Hayleypinkyeh there were hundreds...strange

It's a bit like that in Le Havre, there are or were yellow bikes all over the place owned I think by the council. You just jumped on one, rode to wher eyou wanted then jumped off and left it there. Odd.
MartinWell I think that is a really good Idea. We should petition the government to leave some council bikes on every street corner.
Lady GriffinGood idea about bikes. Like umbrellas. They should be left in shop doorways for anyone to use -especially in Auckland Lots and lots of wet stuff LG

Will do, Bill! I'm going to be rushing round like the proverbial fly this weekend - got to go into Wigan Saturday am on an errand, then go to see my Mum, then my Dad (both over in Manchester), then come home and do all the usual weekend chores, plus somehow fit in baking a birthday cake, then Sunday it's Barry's birthday, plus Fathers' Day and we haven't celebrated first born's birthday yet either - he wanted to defer it as he was in the middle of exam revision. D'you think I could have one of those Cambridge bikes too? Make mine turbo powered![;)]
Hayleypinkmartin says he enjoyed he visit to leyland. he played snooker with his brothers on saturday and went into preston saturday night. he is driving back home to somerset now.
noelGood glad to hear. We certainly had a good weekend weather-wise. It would have been good travelling to Cambridge and nicking a couple of bikes, sadly events stopped me so I've had to blow up my bike tyres now!!!
MartinI'm back in Weston now. The weather was very hot [8D] but the journey wasn't too long coming back. I had my first game of snooker in almost three years and managed to win a pound too [;)] I did take a few pictures of the centre and around the park, If they are any good, I will use them to decorate the home page.
Lady GriffinI hope all you Forum members who visit Leyland will stand in front of the Cross as a link with each other. Not forgetting the Forum corner in the Eagle. Now I'm getting sentimental- LG
noelI think we should Linda. You certainly hogged that corner. ( and I the exit <vbg>)
Lady GriffinCoward, Noel.Won't let you get away too easily next time. LG

That sounds like we're taking the register... some fraffly posh Edwardian prep school. Sorry - brain going off at tangents today!
Lady GriffinCoward, Noel. You spotted it again Linda. Can't hide anything. My mind too! Tangents galore.Remember Sir Michael Redgrave's act-reading the class register with all the added tone. LG

No, don't remember that..... I do remember Alan Bennett doing some sort of boarding school register skit, and I think Rowan Atkinson may have done something similar on "Not the Nine O'Clock News". Great minds must think alike.
Caroline'They' have some of those bikes in Rennes, the ones you use a token in or summat, and then leave in another rack if needed.. Which corner is it in the Eagle, I wonder if it's 'my' old corner??

Left hand side as you come in at the door, corner next to the fireplace, facing the bar....[^]
noelAll the corners are different now Caroline. Not like it was when we were at Balshaws. It used to be a narrow room with the bar running the length of it on the left. No more . Everything's changed.
