Oop's sorry, it should have been this one [V]
noelDoesn't look like we're a very romantic lot does it Haley? Either that or we don't want to let our secrets out the bag.[;)]
LDunlop76Awww, Hayley, you see you're still in the first flush of love's young dream [:I] whereas this Valentine's Day will be the 25th since hubby and I met. (I was a mere child, honest [;)]) Romance? Well, he still buys me flowers every Valentine's and I still cook a special meal. Does that count? Our first Valentine's evening was spent at a student Valentine disco aboard the Royal Iris, sailing up and down the Mersey. (And you can't get much more romantic than that, folks! Esp when the condensation from 200 dancing couples started dripping from the ceiling![:o)]) What are your Valentine plans, Hayley? LD <~~ has visions of Martin emerging from a prolonged pink lipstick clinch [:X][:0][:I]
MartinOh yes, it's nearly Valentines... thanks for the reminder [;)] I have booked that day off work (thought I'd mention it in case anyone was thinking of sending me a pressie). I'm moving house on the 14th, then I'm heading off to Kent to see someone [:X]

Where you off to, Martin? Did you find a place nearer to work? Happy Valentine's Day to you and Hayley [:X]
DavidAh Valentines Day, Friday February 14. I've been married for 44 years and I'm sure I have some special event planned for that day...Ah yes, That's the day I'm flying off to Mexico City for a few days, then on to San Jose, Costa Rica for five more days....with my wife ? Sorry, I'm going with a bunch of lads who play football in the league where I referee. [:0][8D] Well that's what happens when you've been together for all those years....[}:)] And would you believe that we are meeting some lads who are flying in from different parts of England. The first match is next Sunday in Mexico City, when our boys play The British Consulate XI[8D][8D]
KarenHINT ....leave a flower on her pillow and her Valentine's day will be just fine!!
noelWell as good an excuse as any I guess to fly off to Mexico City. I have a pal who lives in San Jose, looks a beautiful place. Are we talking "English" football here David, or that watchin'-paint-dry-grid-iron-pinched-the-good-old-english-word-and-called-our-game-"soccer"-game?? (Not that the word "soccer" bothers me you understand.
DavidYes I do mean real English footy. You don't really think that the British Consulate in Mexico has an American football team [?] I referee two games each Sunday morning, 8:30am, and 10:30am. There are four games a week on two different fields...12;30pm, and 2:30pm. that's one of the nice things about having sunny weather all year round, the fields don't get cut up at all.[8D]

Karen: I don't think that will work either because the other morning I shook her awake and said "It's your choice, it's sex or golf this morning" Without opening her eyes she answered, " Put a sweater on, it will be cool out there on the golf course" [xx(][xx(][xx(][}:)][}:)][:D]

Well David, to be honest, for all I know they might have. Have a good day though, hope you are better than some of the referees we have over here reffing North End.[:D]

Flowers bought from the garage forecourt also mean 1) he forgot and grabbed those when he called for petrol cos everywhere else was shut 2) guilt purchase - e.g. coming home drunk and the garage was the only place open once again. They die because they've been subjected to traffic fumes and muck and they've been out in the frost/sun (depending on season) all day. Garage flowers as opposed to florist flowers are the equivalent of giving someome a king-sized Mars Bar in place of a box of chocolates - nice, but......... not the same! [;)] Garage flowers are only romantic if say you're off on a day trip somewhere and stop for petrol and he goes in to pay and comes out with a bunch of flowers too, just to remind you he loves you! (Awwwww) Hope you had a lovely romantic Valentine's evening with Martin, Hayley. I'm off now to cook our Valentine's dinner. I came home from work to a large basket of beautiful flowers [:I] so I'm off to prepare french pate on heart-shaped melba toast, pan-fried duck breast in marmalade and Cointreau sauce and chocolate and brandy mousse in heart-shaped pots..... nad let's hope the kids have an early night![;)]
LDunlop76ps hubby has never bought me "garage flowers" - phew!
noelCall me unromantic if you wish, but on a point of principle I never buy my wife flowers on Valentine's day. Every week I buy her flowers and chocolates, but never, ever on the 14th February.[:(!]
Lady GriffinWell I think that's the most romantic thing that I've read on this forum, Noel.

Awwww, Noel, I knew you had a soft-centre! You buy chocolates every week? Wow! (I have to put in requests for no choc these days or the waistline would expand exponentially[:o)]) You're obviously a chap who understands the importance of keeping the romance in a relationship alive, Noel. But sadly most chaps need a reminder in the form of a media-hyped special day to tell their loved ones how much they cherish them. I know blokes who wouldn't be seen dead carrying a bunch of flowers! Why do men get embarrassed about expressions of love? I can't boast weekly flowers off my hubby, but the florist knows our address and my preference for flowers with fragrance off by heart. [;)] And hubby did once give me pearls with a gift tag which read "if the world is my oyster, you are my pearl". [:I] I hope your wife appreciates what a loving chap she's got in you, Noel.
noelAnd I should have added she now weighs 28 stone.[:)] Nooo, only joking, she'd kill me if she read that.

MartinPhew! I think I passed the Valentines day test... [8)] Flowers, chocolates, food, wine and pc maintenance. What more can a man do? (Don't answer that!)
Hayleypinkyep martin passed and i think i did too! he bought me a masiiiiiiiiiiveeeeeeee bunch of pink flowers and choclates for me and my mum. and he fixed my pc for me. and he bought me a new desk for my pc for my birthday - which he will put up shortly. i took us out for a nice meal on friday night which was yummy.
LDunlop76Awwwww {{{{Hayley & Martin}}}} Sounds like you had a lovely time together - long may it last! [:)]

If you really feel that way, there's plenty of time to change tack. Hubby was in the merchant navy till he was 25, then decided to quit, did his A-levels, got a degree, went into a completely different line of work. Early days yet, Hayley. [8D] Signed a very cheerful old git [;)]

CarolineI changed tack when I was 41!
LDunlop76Ooh, that was brave, Caroline! Hubby went freelance at 50, but stayed in the same line of work. It was (still is) a little risky, but we have my (hopefully) stable income to tide us over between contracts.
Hayleypinkawww thanks linda xxx
ThornleyHayley, there is plenty of time. I only started nursing at 33. 21 is a wonderful age to be. It was my youngest daughters 21 yesterday, when is yours? Vanessa
Hayleypink8th march....5 days to go
noelOnly 3 days to go now Haley. I heard Mel C's record for the second time today and must agree it's a very good recording.
William RMany Happies, Haley, I had my 21st birthday in South East Asia, which Gen.Montgomery had decreed to be a "dry" theatre of operations. Noel, was Mel C a Spice Girl? I don`t know one from `tother. As for records....... Cheerio, Bill.
Hayleypinkyes, Mel C was sprty spice!!!!! yes, not long to go....trying to guess what pressies i will get!
LDunlop76Ah, Mel C aka Sporty Spice... I work with someone who went to school with her. Apparently the scouse accent is fake as she was brought up and went to school in Widnes - where she was quite poshly spoken! <g>
noelShe looks pretty sporty to me on her video.[;)]
