Preston are full of promise for the coming season, but will they deliver when it the action realy starts? Will they be in the premiership next year?

They've got to get past Reading first [:I] |
| noel | I don't think Reading will be the main threat, most considered opinions say West Ham and West Brom will be the 2. Will West Ham suffer because they've sold their best players though?
I've got my ticket for Saturday, hope the weather cools down a bit though. |
| Martin | FT: Preston 1 West Ham 2
How did the match go Noel? would you like to do a write up for us?
I know that Preston scored inside of two minutes, but soon lost the advantage. |
| Martin | Preston have had a good run of form recently, they are up to eleventh in the first division and not too far off the play offs, providing they can keep coming up with the results. |
| skitzy | Here's hoping they do well.We still follow PNE even though we've been here nearly 16 years. It would be good if somebody could post the match results on the forum, that way we would know the results quicker,it can get a bit frustrating trying to find out how they went. I've tried looking at the LEP website but can never find it.

| noel | We won tonight Eileen away to Millwall. That's a brill result, the first match Millwall have lost at home this season.
You can get match reports at www.pnefc.net |
| skitzy | Thanks Noel, Thats great news.I will put the web site on my favourites.

| Martin | Oh dear, Preston lost to Reading on saturday. Did you see the match Noel? |
| JohnH | Having lived in Reading for a number of years now, it's hard to say where one's loyalty lies! A draw would have been fairer ! |
| noel | I believe we wuz robbed by the referee Martin. Sent one of our players off ( no grouse there, apparently he was booked twice) then awarded Reading a penalty which was saved by Gould, only to be retaken because the lineseman had been slipped a fiver. Goat scored the second take. Finally FIVE minutes of extra time, where did that come from? They svcored in the last of the five minutes. As JohnH said a draw would be fairer. Still it's only a game. |
| Lady Griffin | I realise it's 'only a game' and this is way before 2003 -4 .The last time I stood on the hill and barracked for PNE was in 1953 .It was freezing cold and my husband to be was working for Smith and Fleet's -Egg Marketing firm-Smith was one of the directors and it was a real experience to be invited to join the Directors after the match in their bar.Great stuff!
I still take an interest in PNE even from a distance.

| William R | Sorry Linda, you are going to have to change you allegiance to "The Reds" or you`re in trouble (like them). William R. |

Is that Liverpool Bill?
I see you are trying to get your post count up again! |
| William R | No Martin, The "Reds" I refer to is that well known club Barnsley F.C. who were in that much trouble that the City Fathers (The Council) decided to buy into the Club to the tune of £M3 (three million pounds) to save them from extinction. It was ratepayers money, but we were never asked if it was alright, they said it was for the good of the town. So Linda will have to support them, the Council says so. William R. |
| Martin | Next Match is
PNE V Ipswich Town Saturday 25th Oct |
| noel | I've got my ticket Martin. Just remember the old cliches, it's a game of two halves. The first half, then the second half.
It ain't over till the fat lady sings. Bring on the Tractor Boys. And if we lose, there's always the rugby world cup to cheer us up. |
| noel | North End drew 1-1 , a fair result we thought. There was a "kick racism into touch" theme, with, before the game an Asian Indian singing what I can only call "Bollywood songs". It was well received by the near 15,000 on the ground.
At half time my son shouted "look at her, she's nearly nude" panicking, I couldn't see any near nude females. Then the drums started and a native African female from heaven knows what tribe came onto the pitch in grass skirt and whatever, dancing a rain dance. Again well received, and I wasn't too happy as the rain began to drip through the holes in the roof.
There is no racism at Deepdale, a far cry from 20 years ago. The area is truly multi-racial now. |
| noel | Well today's game was against Derby County, who are a far cry from the team of the 80s. The game kicked off in sunshine, cold but sunny. It was very much a game of two halves...... The first half, followed closely by the second half.
I could very easily forget the first half, it was dreadful. We got a penalty for a foul on Ricardo Fuller, which Graham Alexander converted.. Second half was much better, we scored 2 more and had what seemed a good goal disallowed for off-side.
We remain in 13th place in the table. |

quote: FT: Preston 2 Watford 1
David Healy's third goal in as many matches snatched Preston a 2-1 victory over Watford after a pulsating clash at Deepdale.
The Northern Ireland international fired home from 20 yards in the second minute of stoppage time to secure a sixth win in seven home games.
Substitute Pawel Abbott and Watford's Danny Webber had traded goals in a thrilling second half which saw a host of near misses and a Dickson Etuhu header cleared off the line before Healy struck.
Another good result... |
| Martin | Crystal Palace 1 Preston 1
Where's our roving reporter? |
| Martin | PRESTON NORTH END 5 - BURNLEY 3
North End took the lead three times, only to allow Burnley to equalise three times, before finally managing to to knock away two more without conceding.
For the neutral football fan, it was one of the best games in years. For fans supporting Preston, Jonathan Gould summed things up perfectly: 'It was a rollercoaster!'
