LEYLAND CRAFTS & LOCAL SOCIETIES FAIR 7th June 2003
The planning is well underway for the “Leyland at Leisure 2003” on June 7th 2003. Last years event was a great success with over 1500 visitors. We have again invited all those who attended last year and they were all very happy with the facilities that the venue of the Leyland Methodist Church Centre in Turpin Green Lane had to offer.
The centre this year will be open to the public from 10 am to 6 p.m. and the fair had no entry fee for the general public. This year we are extending the outdoor attractions with the return of the Leyland Morris Men, Stone the Crows and the Adlington Morris Men from Cheshire performing on the car park outside together with a concert by the Lostock Hall Memorial Band.
We have again invited the craft exhibitors to display including Leathercraft, Hand Painted Glassware, Porcelain & Cloth Dolls, Hand Made Greeting Cards, Jewellery, Pictures, Canal Boat Art and much more. While refreshments at very reasonable prices will be available in the coffee bar provided by the members of the Methodist church.
The Leyland Historical Society will again mount an exhibition in the talk & slide show room featuring the history of the buildings of Leyland. There will also again be talks given in this room, including a talk by Dr David Hunt on Leyland. The display in the main hall will feature “Leyland, Then & Now” along with last years exhibition “Leyland in 1952”, the year that the Queen came to the throne.
If people are more interested in researching their family tree, the Chorley and Leyland branch of the Family History Society will be able to help. They are bringing along their computer, which will enable many members of the public to look up their ancestors on the computer records.
The displays of the Farington Art Group and Leyland Photographic Society will be very popular with their annual exhibitions and members on hand to answer any queries. The Leyland & District Model Railway Club will be showing three of their latest railway displays with younger members of the public getting some hands on experience.
With the assistance of the Methodist Centre helpers in front and behind the scenes, we will endeavor to make the day a great success.

| Martin | I'm planning to visit Leyland again soon, unfortunately I think it will be the week after this event. |
| William R | Hi Peter, Sorry I won`t be able to make it from S75, wish I could. Wish you every success. |
| noel | I've got a free weekend My wife is away on Scouts County Camp. I'll be there . |
| noel | Oh and by the way. not sure where to put this but Peter's site covers Farington house (BTR Club that was) somewhere. It was gutted this week by arsonists. May have to be pulled down. |
| Spitfire | Anyone in the room visited last years craft show and knows what the Family Hisory Society stall had to offer? I`m a member of the Preston branch and know that Chorley has one also, but didn`n know of a Leland & Chorley branch (as stated). If this is indeed the case , then I am putting in for a transfer to it! |
| Martin | Does anyone know how the fair went at the weekend? |
| noel | D'yo know Martin I was just wondering, I intended to go but we had some bad news in the family and it knocked the stuffing out of us all. |

Awww {{{Noel}}} Every sympathy! If there's any help you or your family need, you only have to ask. |
| noel | It's too close to home to say anything on this forum, but thanks everyone. My wife and I had one heck of a night last night trying to solve the problem. She was heartbroken and I'm shaking like a leaf. Thanks for your concerns. |
| Martin | I hope you do manage to sort it out Noel. |
