Lorries and buses of all ages to meet at museum
MartinAfter setting up a Vintage Leyland Vehicles page, by pure coincidence I came across this article...

anacortesdampAbout 7 years ago there was a big bus meet at the museum, It was in celebration of Fishwick's 90th anniversary. I was passing through Leyland on the way home from a business trip and just stumbled onto it. Buses were running round a loop along King Street - School Lane - Golden Hill - Chapel Brow - Turpin Green and back to the Museum. There was a second exhibit area at Fishwick's garage. The 100th Anniversary shouldn't be too far away. Frank
SpitfireRegarding the meet on the 13th, visitors are advised to park at the museum on King St. and use the free bus service to the factory. It hasn`t been stated, but I think there is every chance that one or more of the shuttles could be vintage. I remember a Leyland Lion doing similar service a few years back. Anyway, I shall be going along clutching my digi-camera !!
Kath smithProbably see some of you there my hubby and son are mad on vintage cars and vehicles. we even have an old Morris Minor we are going to renovate when the house is decorated. we even got up one sunday morning to go to the Leyland museum to see some old recovery tow trucks on King Street car park. There was a good show for the vintage and veteran motorbike's a short while ago. THere was a good day out in Chorley to celebrate(?) the closure of the bus station and opening of the new ine with lots of old buses driving round town. My 9 year old had a great time so we hope there will be some good buses to take him on. One of his best days out was a bus ride to Preston and a train ride back, he'd never been on a double decker befroe or a train, we take the car for granted these days.
anacortesdampWell, Kath, at least you've got the option. Between Seattle and Vancouver, two cities each of more than 2 million population, there's one train a day in each direction. It takes nearly 4 hours to do the 160 mile trip. TGV it's not! Inter-city bus service is almost non-existent, except for Greyhound. Seattle and environs have fairly decent bus service, but most other places are awful. Tacoma is the only place in Washington with trams, just coming into service. Everyone has to use their personal vehicles for everything. Frank Damp
MartinIf anyone does go to the vehicle rally and manages to get some pictures, I could post them here for everyone to see.
SpitfireMartin, Will need to get some good pics to match the quality of those shown in the forum. I`ll be on the look-out for any Scout, BBMS, Standerwick or Vikings (all from Starch House Square).

I scanned all those pictures with a little mobile scanner. It's cheap and cheerful, and takes a bit of time scanning and sorting out the pictures. But it does the job. I should really put proper descriptions on all those photos, so let me know what they are!
MartinI have updated the links menu above and you can now see more pictures of Leyland Vehicles. The new pictures were taken today (13th) coutesy of Jim.
