Farrington Park Development
lillswillsHi, wonder if anyone can tell me what the area around the Farrington Park Development is like? The development looks very nice (except for the pylon [:(]) but I am new to the area and not really sure about the different areas and access to schools etc. I am new to this forum also, however, I have read through all the threads for information on this topic but cannot seem to find any specific information. Any info would be greatly appreciated [:X]
CarolineSorry I couldn't help, as my knowledge of Primary schools in Leyland is from the 1950s. Happy Movings!

The pylons put me off as well to be honest. Secondary schools or primary? The are itself is quite a good one not near any potential "trouble spots" if you know what I mean. Buses twice an hour Leyland within walking distance. Good spot to buy a home I would say, apart from that damn pylon.[:)]
lillswillsThanks very much Noel, I have to admit any statistics that I can get off of the internet show the area to be nice. Primary schools would be our concern at present. Do the roads get really congested down to the M6 at peak times?

That particular road is fairly quiet. No conjestion ever on Croston Road which is where the estate is located. If you need the M6 there are 2 entries , one at Bamber Bridge and one at Leyland. Peak times are usually around 5pm at night and 8-30am "ish" and the entry to the M6 can get conjested but relative to other areas it's really not too bad, in fact the main snarl-up in Leyland these days is Tesco's supermarket. Most the day the entries to the M6 are fairly quiet. Primary Schools , going back a bit in time for my kids I'm afraid as they were reared in Wiltshire but there is a school 2 miles down the road in Farington Moss, St.Paul's C.O.E School which is a small friendly village type school on a regular bus route (every 30 minutes I think) Heading into Leyland there are sveral schools on the Broadfield Estate which Caroline would probably tell you more about .
RobboLeyland St Mary's RC Primary, Haig Ave. I use to attenend this school. Nice & clean, does well in the performance tables. Bad traffic though! Leyland Northbrook County Primary, Bannister Drive, off Haigh Ave. Very bad traffic seeing as both schools are 1 min walk from each other. Both schools about 5 mins drive/20 mins walk from FP. Leyland Woodlea CE Primary/St Andrews CE infrents. Woodlea Road, off Broadfield Drive/West Paddock. Nice schools about 5 mins drive/25 mins walk from FP. Leyland St Cathrines RC Primary, Moss Lane, Farrington. Probably the best primary school in Leyland. Always the top in performace tables. Traffic not too bad. 15 mins Drive from FP as you have to go all the way up Golden Hill Lane! Farrington Primary School, off Preston Road/Stanisfield Lane, Leyland. Don't know too much about this school. Traffic is bad as it's off one of the main roads in Leyland. Leyland St Annes RC Primary, Slater Lane just off Leyland Lane. Couple of mins drive from FP. Seven Stars County Primary, Peacock Hall Lane, Just of Leyland Lane. Next to St Annes Primary. Not a nice school if you ask me. Take a lot of expelled kids. Also there are Primary schools on the outskirks of Leyland. Clayton le woods CE, and Lancster Lane in Clayton le woods, Leyland, and St pauls in Farrington, near Tardy Gate, Lostock Hall. Hope this helps you?!
noelWow that was a comprehensive list Gary. I actually went to Farington Primary School ( opposite East St. in Farington) many years ago now of course. I think the best bet for this lady would be St.Paul's in Farington Moss ( or Lostock Hall as I think you said) There are 2 Farington's , Farington and "Far Farington". If you lived in Farington, the other one was always called "Far Farington" and St.Paul's is not the 2 miles away I said, it's more like one mile on a clear straight uncluttered road.
lillswillsThanks so much for your help - we've been away in Scotland for a few days so it was great to get back to all of this info! The school list was very impressive!!!
